I found a better strategy. Learn to accept the losses with equanimity. Grace is the face you show others. Equanimity is the feeling in your heart.

There are only two times I want to do an Elvis and shoot out the television set, that’s after The Eurovision Song Contest, when my least favourite song has won, and less so after my favourite football team loses in an important game. Instead of doing an Elvis, I just turn the T.V off. Seems to be a better option.

Looks like you’re more equanimeous than I. I refuse to have a TV in the house and doubt I could sit through a Eurovision regardless of who won. And don’t even get me started on ‘reality’ TV, much less the ads.
Ram Dass (Dick Alpert) used to tell a story of how he kept a photo of Caspar Weinberger on his altar so his morning puja always reminded him of how far short of sainthood he remained.
I’ve been thinking of breaking my blog posting drought with one on how I was unexpectedly and undeservedly gifted with radical acceptance, but you’ve reminded me of how incomplete that remains. TV is my Caspar Weinberger.

Nice quote. I see many who are way too quick to give up the struggle and there is nothing graceful in that. However, the struggle is graceful.
