I hope your troubles
Don’t hurricane your life
I hope extreme emotional turbulence
Doesn’t undo you.
I hope you overcome
The hurricanes of life
And they don’t define you
Or make you bitter and twisted
Or frighten you
Or unkind you
And make you indifferent
Uncaring
Or apathetic
But as with most things
Hurricanes disperse
I hope your hurricanes
Drift along
Expend energy harmlessly
Into the ocean
And melt off into the mist
Where they can do no harm to no-one
Especially yourself.
Watch it go.

Is there something wrong with hurricanes?
I think Bob Dylan and Swami Vivekananda would beg to differ.
The stars are blotted out,
The clouds are covering clouds,
It is darkness vibrant, sonant.
In the roaring, whirling wind
Are the souls of a million lunatics
Just loose from the prison-house,
Wrenching trees by the roots,
Sweeping all from the path.
The sea has joined the fray,
And swirls up mountain-waves,
To reach the pitchy sky.
The flash of lurid light
Reveals on every side
A thousand, thousand shades
Of Death begrimed and black —
Scattering plagues and sorrows,
Dancing mad with joy,
Come, Mother, come!
For Terror is Thy name,
Death is in Thy breath,
And every shaking step
Destroys a world for e’er.
Thou “Time”, the All-Destroyer!
Come, O Mother, come!
Who dares misery love,
And hug the form of Death,
Dance in Destruction’s dance,
To him the Mother comes.
– ‘Kali the Mother’ by Swami Vivekananda

I may be prejudiced against hurricanes. But have you seen the tornado that has moved in next door? There goes the neighbourhood.

Thank you for sharing!!… “I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning how to sail my ship.” ( Louisa May Alcott)… 🙂
Until we meet again..
May flowers always line your path
and sunshine light your way,
May songbirds serenade your
every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.

I love this, especially the line about not letting hurricanes “define” you. Thanks for sharing your gift.
